Bizzy Bee Baby Massage

In our baby massage courses you learn simple massage techniques to help your baby feel safe and secure, to help relieve problems such as colic, wind etc, and generally to relax. The course is divided into three levels:

  • 0 to 6 weeks (taught during pregnancy)
  • 2 to 6 months
  • 7 to 12 months

Each level consists of four classes that last an hour each.

We understand that you may have a lot of questions, especially if you’re expecting your first child, and therefore allow time for an exchange between parents and teacher at the end of every class.

0 to 6 weeks baby massage

As the first few weeks after the birth of your baby may be a little hectic and overwhelming, it makes sense to learn the basics before the birth. You’ll then be better prepared and more confident in understanding your baby in those first few weeks, as you both find your rhythms and start to get to know each other.

In this part of the course you will learn about:

  • how to hold your baby to make them feel safe and secure
  • understanding your baby’s body language, e.g. colic pain, anxiety
  • gentle massage techniques and the oils you can use
  • basic baby psychology in order to help you better understand your baby’s behaviour and needs
  • the benefits and practicalities of ‘wearing’ your baby in a sling

Classes have maximum eight couples/parents, and each couple has a doll to practice on.

2 to 6 months baby massage

Now that you will have started to find your rhythm with your baby, learning baby massage can be a fun way of further increasing that parent child bond and learning some very useful techniques. One or both parents can attend the class with their baby.

In this part of the course you will learn more about:

  • baby psychology and early childhood development
  • specific massage techniques to relax your baby and to help relieve pain caused by problems such as colic or  constipation
  • how to give your baby the best ‘whole body’ massage, by following a certain order of techniques/areas
  • massage techniques to help develop your baby’s motor skills

Classes have maximum eight babies/couples/parents, and take place in a warm and welcoming environment. We use a range of music, from gentle, relaxing music to more fun baby music.

7 to 12 months baby massage

At this stage your baby will be starting to roll over, and may even be crawling. They will be getting more and more curious and are keen to discover the world around them. This all means that it’s harder to keep them lying on their backs for long, and so you’ll learn how to adapt to give your active, moving baby a proper massage. One or both parents can attend the class with their baby.

In this part of the course you will learn more about:

  • hints, tips and techniques to make massage fun and interesting
  • helping your baby to really open up to the outside world and trust the process of letting go
  • deeper into the massage moves and to have a real fun time interacting with your baby

Classes have maximum eight babies/couples/parents, and take place in a warm and welcoming environment. The music used in these classes is more dynamic than for the previous levels.
